Shred Your Stress

Planksgiving Challenge

Nov. 1-30

Do planks and give thanks! Gradually build your core strength and stability by completing planks for an allotted amount of time provided on the challenge tracker. Can’t hold a plank the designated length of time? Do what you can! There’s a plank for all fitness levels. See How to do a Plank for tips and modifications. Healthier Holidays

Tuesday, Nov. 14 from 12-12:30 p.m. CT

Learn how to have a happy and healthier holiday season! Wellness Coordinator Morgan Blake will lead this interactive holiday event. We’ll be using the platform Mentimeter and provide a link to join on the day of the event. Two participants chosen at random will win a prize!

Give your mind a break with live, virtual meditation.

Workouts

How to do a Plank

Wednesday, Nov. 1 from 12-12:20 p.m. CT

The plank is a great exercise to strengthen your core muscles. Join this session to learn how to do traditional, forearm and wall planks, along with modifications to help you prevent injuries while strengthening your core muscles. Every Monday: Yoga for All

Monday, Nov. 6, 13, 20 and 27 from 12-12:15 p.m. CT

Join this 15-minute live virtual yoga class each week that’s suitable for beginners and relaxing for all fitness levels. Poses will be either seated in a chair or standing. No special equipment or attire is needed.

This class is brought to you by volunteer certified yoga teacher and state employees Denise M. Galben, Robin Littlefield and Sophia DeMarse in partnership with Working for a Healthier Tennessee.

Join this 15-minute live, virtual dance class that’s fun for all fitness levels.

Equipment needed: Nothing, except plenty of space to move around

Every Thursday: Department of Children’s Services Fitness Break

Thursday, Nov. 2, 9, 16 and 30 from 10-10:15 a.m. CT

Give your body a break with the Department of Children’s Services Wellness Council every Thursday on Microsoft Teams! You can expect a livestreamed workout video handpicked by DCS Wellness Council members.

Attire: Anything you can move in

Equipment needed: Varies (None to light/medium hand weights)
